IMPACT OF RESOURCE OPTIMIZATION ON PROJECT MANAGEMENT EFFECTIVENESS
Abstract
The human resource is a vital asset every organization desire for effective and efficient management, the sensitive nature of the human resource demands that for an organization to effectively maximize utility and attain high performance, it must sustainably invest in training and development of the human resources in order to optimize the benefits associated with it. The study assessed the impact of resource optimization on project management effectiveness. The study had a population of 87 Managers, from this population, a sample size of 71 managers were derived using Taro Yemani’s formular, data for the study were collected using a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed and hypotheses tested using Linear Regression. The results showed that resource scheduling (p=0.044< 0.05), resource planning (p=0.043< 0.05) and organizational skill (p=0.015< 0.05) had positive and significant effect on project management effectiveness. The study concluded that project optimization is a necessary tool for an increased project management effectiveness, this is because projects have specialized set of critical success factors which, if addressed would improve the likelihood of successful implementation. The study recommended among others that, training and retraining of project managers and chief executives of firms should be on a continuous basis to enable them acquire the basic skills, knowledge, competence, capabilities and experiences required for efficient and successful project management ventures.
